Overview

Bachelor of Computer Applications or BCA is a three year degree course taught in several institutes and universities across India. A typical BCA course deals with software design and data base management and working with multiple data in the computer.BCA course focuses on preparing students for roles pertaining to Computer Applications and IT industry and helps a student develop programming skills, networking skills and learn application packages, programming languages and modern techniques of Information technology. After completing BCA, a student has numerous career options to choose from. He/ She can find employment in various fields like Software Development, Banks, ITES, Government departments, Education etc.

Scope

A BCA program is the first important step for higher studies especially MCA. It prepares a student for IT and other professions either directly related or after higher studies. BCA provides a student with the much needed exposure of Computer Language applications and prepares a student for a Masters program in Computer Applications (MCA).

Job Prospects

BCA gives a student with a solid platform to further his career in the field of technology but it is strongly recommended that a student should opt for MCA to further his prospects in this competitive world. BCA is a good course but it is simply a bachelor's level degree and not much importance is given by both private and government organizations especially when compared to a B.Tech course. Therefore one should join MCA after BCA which will improve a student's prospects immensely and companies also attach the same weightage as a B.Tech degree holder.

After completing BCA students can start as Junior Programmer or a Software Tester and then move higher up the ranks and attain the role of a Senior Programmer. IT industry is booming in India and even in times of global recession, the Indian scene was relatively stable

Eligibility

A student from any stream can apply for a BCA course provided he or she has Mathematics and English at the 10 2 level with an average of 50% marks.

MCA

One can say that doing the Master's level program after BCA can boost one's career. Many major forms such as Wipro, Vodafone, Infosys and Satyam take in students of MCA. Other firms that recruit students of MCA are Microsoft and Essar Communications. The future for students will indeed be brighter if they have a Master's degree.

Outline of MCA Course

This program has a period of 3 years with 6 semesters. Each semester comprises of 6 months. The candidates are given placements for industrial training during their final year. This procedure helps the students gain an individual idea about their career.

The individual qualities a student possesses will benefit him in his way for a bright carer. This is similar in the case of a person taking up MCA after BCA. A student will receive the fundamental training in computer applications when he studies the BCA course. But when he takes up the MCA course, he delves further into this fantastic field of study. CMS College of Science & Commerce

CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore was established in 1988 by the CMS Educational and Charitable Trust, which is a non-profit organization. CMS College of Science and Commerce is accredited `A` Level by National Assessment and accreditation Council (NAAC). Affiliated to Bharathiar University, the college has received approval from the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE). PSG College of Technology

PSG College of Arts and Science in the year 1947 to the PSG & Sons Charities Trust which was founded in the year 1926 by the four praise-worthy sons of P.S. Govindasamy Naidu, the four brothers of the PSG family, Thiru PSG Venkataswamy Naidu, Thiru PSG Rangaswamy Naidu, Thiru PSG Ganga Naidu and Thiru PSG Narayanaswamy Naidu who took "Charity through Education" with great missionary zeal.

COIMBATORE, the fast growing industrial hub of Kongunadu had the need for more colleges during the 70s, and this demand was fulfilled on 12th August 1973, the day on which Kongunadu Arts and Science College came into existence.
