Anyone traveling from outside state or country is considered as a "Guest". To stay for a longer period, the individual has to take up an apartment or stay in a paying guest. The most affordable and cost effective place to accommodate oneself in Coimbatore are the paying guests which are available in all nook and corners of the city. According to your budget, you can get plenty of clean and posh paying guests in your preferred area. The services include fooding and lodging, and with basic amenities like car parking, Water, TV, cupboard, kitchen etc. There are rooms based on single, twin, 3 and 4 sharing.
Paying guests can be of different types. It can be a motel or a hotel, Guest House, Hostel or PG or a Serviced Apartment. The paying guests are rented out to stay for a short time (1-6 months) or long time (6+ months). Coimbatore is well connected by Road, Rail and Air with most cities and towns in India except through waterways. The city has fairly better transport infrastructure, though road infrastructures are not well maintained and developed according to the growing needs of transport, making traffic congestion a major problem in the city.
The city and metropolitan area are served by major arterial roads that run either in an east-west or north-south direction . Avinashi road is one of the city's most important arterial road. It traverses most of central and east Coimbatore (National Highway 47) connecting the metropolis of Bangalore, Chennai. The road runs in a West-east direction. Other arterials include Trichy Road (Central-Southeast), Mettupalayam Road(North-South), Sathy Road (South-North East), Palkkad Road(East-West), Pollachi Road(North-South) and Thadagam Road (east-west). Maruthamalai Road starts at the intersection of Lawley Road Junction and connects Vadavalli and extends up to Maruthamalai foothills. Other roads include 100 feet road, Bharatiyar Road, Dr.Nanjappa Road, Balasundarum Road, Cross cut Road in Gandhipuram Area, DiwhanBahadhur Road(DB Road), TV Swamy Road, Brooke Bond Road in RS Puram Areas, Race Course Road etc.
Most of Coimbatore's intra-city transport requirements are met by an extensive public transport. The bus service, which is run by the government-owned TNSTC Coimbatore covers the city and its suburbs. In addition to the bus service, private metered call taxis and fixed-rate tourist taxis are available at all entry points to the city like airport, bus terminus and railway stations. Vans which are run like bus services and popularly called "Maxi Cabs" also ply on many routes in the city. The outlying suburban areas of the city are also served by private mini bus company services as well as government bus transport corporations of neighbouring districts
Coimbatore International Airport is a major airport mostly serving Coimbatore and its suburbs in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The Coimbatore International Airport is the second busiest airport in Tamil Nadu after Chennai International Airport, in terms of passenger traffic, cargo traffic as well as aircraft movement. The Coimbatore International Airport serves as the city's airport for both domestic and international flights. The airport consists of separate International terminal and the Domestic terminal, and handles domestic as well as international flights. Coimbatore, being one of the most preferable places to live in has good entertainment spots too. Although there are no beaches or resorts for a great entertainment, there are attractions like cinema theatres, theme parks, zoo and hill spots which provide the best entertainment for a day.
The most popular time spending spot in Coimbatore is VOC Park near Gandhipuram. It consists of a zoo with aquarium and many wild animals. A newly opened Senior citizen park is a good place for aged.
This Water Theme, marked as "Asia's NO1. Water Theme park" is at the foothills of Nilgiris, Water games and the park filled with greenery and trees attract the people toward it.
This theme park is located near Perur. The water theme park is a place of enjoyment for kids and adults. The open air theatre allow the people to perform various events.
Another theme park in Coimbatore is Maharaja theme park situated at Avinashi road, Neelambur. It has an amusement park, water games, food courts where people can spend time with their family and friends. It also consist of a multiplex with two screens.
The mostly preferred place by the people to have fun with their family and friends is the KG Big Cinemas with 4 screen. With the restaurants, shopping places nearby it is a good place to enjoy and spend time.
