Occupational therapy (OT) is a science degree-based, health and social care profession, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council. Occupational therapy takes a "whole-person approach" to both mental and physical health and wellbeing and enables individuals to achieve their full potential Occupational therapists play a critical role in helping people of all ages overcome the effects of disability caused by illness, ageing or accident so that they can carry out everyday tasks or occupations.
A wide range of employment opportunities are available for students of occupational therapy. Community health centers, rehabilitation centers and mental health services also employ Occupational therapists. Schools and commercial organizations are a few other places where Occupational therapists can get employment. They can also be concerned in ergonomic consultations in corporate firms as well as architectural arenas for better accessibility by people who are physically challenged.
Four years of academic program and six months of internship.
Male and Female candidates are eligible to apply.
Candidates should have passed HSC or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Vocational stream is not eligible for admission.
Should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st december of the admission year.

The most popular PG course among graduates is MOT. It stands for Master of Occupational Therapy. It is a 2 years long PG course. MOT course could be used to specialize in the following disciplines-
Other than MOT, another good PG course available in front of graduates is M.Sc. There exists many Government and Private institutes offering M.Sc. Occupational Therapy course. M.Sc. course can also be used to specialize in the above mentioned disciplines.
Apart from the above mentioned Degree programs, there also exists valuable PG Diplomaas well as PG Certificate Occupational Therapy courses in India and abroad.
If you want to acquire management skills after graduation, MBA course will help you out! It is a 2 years long PG course and will help one take on administrative jobs after completing it.
The KMCH College of Occupational Therapy was established in the year 1995 as a unit of the Kovai Medical Center Research and Educational Trust. The College of Occupational Therapy is recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu and is affiliated to the T.N. Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. It is also recognized by the All India Occupational Therapists Association (AIOTA) and World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) the licensing body for Occupational therapist's, which gives added advantage to the graduates of KMCHCOT to study and work anywhere in India and abroad.
The KMCH College of Occupational therapy offers both the B.O.T (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy - four and half year) and M.O.T (Master of Occupational Therapy programme -two years full time course) which started in the year 2005 in three specialties of Mental Health, Child Health and Neurology. Students in both the programs learn the skills in Health conditions, Human Occupations, Evaluation, Intervention and Research methods in O.T Clinical practice is required before graduation in each program.
